56.3% of the buildings in Spain were built before 1980, and only 30,000 a year are being rehabilitated. The European Commission requires that by 2050 all building stock must be emission-free. In Spain there are 9.7 million homes that would need renovation to be up to standard, but currently only 30,000 are being renovated.
