On Tuesday, the government approved the distribution ofnearly €1.9 billionfrom European funds for housing renovation and social housing.The aid will be allocated to the autonomous communities and Ceuta and Melilla.
The government estimates that these social housing renovation and construction projects willcreate around 180,000 jobs for self-employed workers and small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs), which are often involved in this type of work.
The minister also pointed out thatthe transfer criteria were agreed jointly with the autonomous communitiesat the Sectoral Conference and announced that a new Conference will be convened in the coming weeks to "address this transfer and consolidate each of the communities."
"The scope of this aid program is enormous, both for citizens and in terms of its capacity to create jobs and in the determined fight against climate change," said the minister in her speech.

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda (Mitma) estimates thatthe energy renovation of buildingswill result in energy savings of at least 30%.
Sánchez commented that 75% of the resources allocated to renovation and 100% of those allocated to the promotion of social rental housing have already been put into action.
